Horse Trekking at Valle de Montana

.

This is the fun part !!!

.

We have a mixture of horses here at our Valle de Montana ranch, including crossbred Lusitanos and crossbred Andalucians, as well as the good old faithfuls that have seen and done it all before knowing every trick in the book. We have all met one of them!

.

We only cater for experienced riders. The minimum standard we require is that you are competent in the three paces of walk, trot and canter, as our routes can sometimes include rough terrain and hills. We also have a maximum weight limit of 85 kilos (13 stone). Children are to be accompanied by an adult or responsible guardian at all times whilst around the Ranch and should also have a member of family or responsible person present on the ride where at all possible. You are responsible for bringing your own riding hats to correct standard, and it is also advised that you bring appropriate footwear and clothes for the duration of your ride, and of course plenty of sun cream and your camera!.

.

Your riding days will normally start reasonably early, as the temperatures can get quite high around early afternoon So to make sure you and the horses are comfortable an early start is recommended. We aim to ride up to 4 hours a day, riding through the dry river beds of Arroyo Jevar and Arroyo Ancon will be something you will never forget. Splashing through the crystal clear water of the streams to tracks that will take you through the lemon and olive groves and into the hills of this stunning region of Andalucia. Along the way you will see the local mules at work, the horses out roaming the river beds, the farmers working their land who will always shout out a cheery "Hola", and if you are lucky, a new baby or two with mum, playing and watching the world go by. Included in your riding will be a lunch stop, where we will water the horses and provide you with a relaxed lunch at one of the local "Fincas", where you and the horses can relax for an hour or so before heading back to Valle de Montana.

.

On return to the Valle de Montana ranch more refreshments will be provided, before you are taken back to your apartments, to enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening....or just to sit and watch the sun go down.

.

Safety and Insurance:

.

Valle de Montana is officially regulated by the Department of Agriculture in Andalucia and holds the appropriate license for our horses. All our horses are covered by the appropriate insurances, and are fully vetted regularly. You are responsible for supplying your own personal holiday and riding insurance. Please remember to bring a copy of your insurance with you, as unfortunately failure to provide proof of this may result in you not being permitted to ride. A member of team our holds a full First Aid at Work certificate, along with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene certificates.

.
If you require any further information, then please contact us via email, or telephone and I will be more than happy to help.

I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you in the near future,

Emma and the team.
